Anxious and Obsessive Thinking

Anxious and obsessive thoughts are not just moments of uneasiness.

They can be persistent, intrusive patterns that disrupt your life and your sense of calm and control. These thoughts often pull you away from the present, creating loops of doubt, fear, and uncertainty that are hard to escape.

Maybe you've had it with all the "what if" thinking that sends you into a spiral

Maybe you see how these thoughts limit your life, and you're ready to take hold of your well-being.

When these thought patterns persist, it can feel like you're:

stuck in a loop of worry and fear
hyper-vigilant...looking everywhere for dangers and playing out endless wild scenarios in your mind
needing to control parts of your life to handle the day

If this feels like you, and you're looking for support, reach out for a free consult call. I'm here to help.

How I Work

Anxious and obsessive thoughts don't respond well to being pushed away or argued with. Instead, the more you fight them, the louder they get.

I work relationally and at an unhurried pace, paying attention to what's happening in your body as much as your mind.

My practice includes a Somatic Experiencing orientation and touch-integrated psychotherapy. Rather than trying to control or eliminate the thoughts themselves, we build your capacity to tolerate the discomfort underneath them and to recognize when your nervous system is reacting to something old rather than what's actually in front of you.

Over time, the loop unwinds, and you find more room to trust yourself again

You may engage in rituals or avoidance behaviors, believing they'll make the anxiety go away, only to find that the cycle continues.

Despite trying to rationalize or push the thoughts away, they keep returning, more forceful and more persistent. Anxiety convinces you that you're in danger, even when there's no immediate or actual threat. It pulls you out of the present and leaves you feeling powerless, depleted, and overwhelmed by the need to make things feel safe.

These thoughts trigger your body's natural fight or flight responses, flooding you with urgency and fear. But the reality is…anxiety often magnifies everyday concerns and creates a sense of danger that isn't real.

You are safe, even if it doesn't feel that way.

Learning to manage these thoughts doesn't mean making them disappear; it means:

understanding why they show up
recognizing that they aren't a threat, and
developing the skills to navigate them

In therapy, you can learn to break the cycle of anxious and obsessive thinking, find relief, and reclaim a sense of peace.

You might be thinking:

"Will I be able to stop these thoughts?"

We can't always control when anxiety shows up, but we can change how we respond to it. With support, you can learn how to sit with those thoughts without letting them take over, and find ways to manage them so they don't control your life.

"Why can't I just get over this?"

Maybe you've heard it from others, or perhaps it's that nagging voice in your head. Anxiety isn't something you can just push through or will away, and struggling with it doesn't mean you're failing. Therapy allows you to understand why your mind reacts the way it does and helps you build the skills to navigate it more smoothly.

"I've tried to manage this on my own, but it's not working."

You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, tried to talk yourself out of the worry and fear. But when anxiety is especially loud, it's hard to see a way out on your own. Reaching out for help is a brave step toward real change.

If you’re tired of feeling stuck in a loop, know that there is a way to break free. You deserve support, and it starts with reaching out.
